Sadly I think it points out that I am not made for this profession.

I am in the middle of medic school, doing well but not sure if I will see it through.

It's a lot of work and time to end up in a profession that does not save lives, and more often than not has been shown to not improve patient care.

Add that to the probable loss of intubation and IVs and I question the point of trying anymore. It's been a very sad wake up call. Wish I knew this before I got into school.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4505990433916682663.post-48841866695648193622009-08-30T22:12:23.021-04:002009-08-30T22:12:23.021-04:00Ummmm... what?Ummmm... what?Ambulance Driverhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10175419709184526342noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4505990433916682663.post-91913000276483320102009-08-30T22:08:58.700-04:002009-08-30T22:08:58.700-04:00This comment has been removed by the author.veryhonesthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00638177392704146164noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4505990433916682663.post-40994986527718133532009-08-26T11:38:19.265-04:002009-08-26T11:38:19.265-04:00"By the way, this is a hard one to follow.&qu..."By the way, this is a hard one to follow."

Funny, that's what I was thinking about all the previous posts when I wrote this one.

You guys have been doing a stellar job with this blog.Ambulance Driverhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10175419709184526342noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4505990433916682663.post-86437113014058985862009-08-26T09:48:06.566-04:002009-08-26T09:48:06.566-04:00By the way, this is a hard one to follow.

Tweak it a little and submit it to an EMS trade journel.

I was enthralled to see someone admit that the more you learn, the more you see how much you don't know. That is why I went back and got another degree in biology making up for what I feel was lacking in my 6 month long Paramedic class. (that's right, 6 months-down right embarrassing!)

I cringe when I look back thinking how much I thought I knew when I finished medic training and was on my own. Then I think of all the calls that...well, humiliated me. Now I get angry when I hear providers tell me that medics don't need higher education or more clinical time to be a medic.
If you don't want the education, go be a fireman. But don't get too complacent if you do, because they are starting to set some higher standards as well.Shaggyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10687847155700323439noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4505990433916682663.post-69528792420824403422009-08-24T21:37:51.028-04:002009-08-24T21:37:51.028-04:00By the way Adam, just came upon the blog a few day...By the way Adam, just came upon the blog a few days ago and it is great.
